The prevalence of bacteria
There are many negative effects of skipping brushing for just one day. Some of them are worth mentioning here.
  • When you do not brush your teeth for 24 hours, the growth of bacterial in your mouth reaches a level at which the bad breath starts coming out of your mouth. You can feel the staleness of breath when you wake up. Imagine the state of your oral cavity when you do not brush your teeth for an entire period of 24 hours.
  • You might find it hard to believe but it is the truth that skipping brushing for just one day can lead to the cavities. The process starts with the buildup of bacterial plaque. And one thing that you need to keep in mind about the bacteria is that they only need to start working properly to dig small pits on your teeth. That’s where the cavities start from.
  • You need to make sure that your teeth are maintained on daily basis. And you can do this by brushing your teeth regularly. That’s because of the fact that a supply of fluoride on daily basis can ensure proper maintenance of your teeth. But if you skip this supply of fluoride to your teeth, you might end up getting your teeth out of maintenance. From this point, things related to your oral health start getting worse.
  • Inflammation is the reaction of bacterial infection. This is a response by immune system but it is not a good thing if it stays for tooth long. That’s because of the fact that an inflamed area doesn’t put up much of a resistance against bacterial attack. This is the same situation which can happen with the gums if you do not brush your teeth for a full day. The bacteria start damaging your gums. It can start the first stage of gum disease which is known as gingivitis. And advanced stage of this disease is known as periodontitis.
