The Pain in Tooth Crown – Causes and Treatment

There can be many types of tooth pain. In this scenario, you may think that a tooth crown, which you would get from the dentist, could give you some relief. Well, the matter of fact is that this crown, too, can be painful at a noticeable extent. The discomfort around a crown is not uncommon. This pain can be new or an establishing one; and it needs proper treatment before you could be able to get permanent relief.

Reasons for pain in tooth crown
If you get a root canal treatment and you don’t get the infected nerves fully removed, the pressure of crown can make things pretty painful due to the pressure which comes upon the nerves. This pain can also result due to bad fitting of crown. And then another factor which comes into play is the teeth grinding. One thing worth mentioning is that teeth grinding do not cause pain on immediate basis in the normal teeth. However, a crown with relatively higher chewing surface as compared to other teeth in the nerves can cause a lot of pain due to teeth grinding. Previous fillings can also result in crown pain, especially when the fillings would be made of silver. And there may be leakages in the filling, leading to seeping of bacteria in the holes and causing infections in the tooth nerves.

Treatment you can do by yourself
There are some ways you can treat your tooth crown pain by yourself. The first thing you need to check is to see if you grind your teeth. While you would be able to find out about this habit pretty easily if you do it in the day time, it can be difficult to track if you do it while sleeping. For this purpose, you will have to see if your jaw muscles remain tight in the first half an hour after waking up. If this teeth grinding is the reason for tooth crown pain, you can use mouth guard while sleeping. You can get a mouth guard form the nearby store or by ordering online.

Moreover, you have to make sure that you take care of your oral hygiene by brushing and flossing in the way you should.

Visit the dentist
You may wonder about when to visit the dentist upon having this tooth crown pain. Well, you have to visit your dentist as soon as you can in order to get this problem treated. Tooth pain can indicate the existence of emergency. There are a lot of treatment options your dentist may have to offer. All you need to do is to report the problem and discuss with your dentist about it in detail.
